Beautiful...

My Christmas cactus did not bloom last year so I followed what I had always heard and put it outside all summer under a bush until the first frost. It was blooming within about three weeks.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow

Today I am thankful for so many blessings and the people and family I have encountered in my life so far. The mums posted today were given to me the very 1st Sunday after we moved to Coweta County after visiting Cornerstone UMC sixteen years ago and they still bloom every fall. We stayed at that church for about twelve years before we found another church family. Pastor McEachern has moved on to a better place but we still have these mums to remind us how much he blessed our lives.

Red beauty

This very cool red beauty pops up each Fall for a joyful surprise in my garden. I've never seen them in garden stores. My dad gave me the bulbs years ago.

Fall is here finally

After such a hot dry summer, it's great to welcome in Fall.

Brave little guy

This little squirrel is really brave. Our deck is really high off the ground and after climbing up the deck, he jumps into this hanging basket. Unfortunately, he didn't find much to munch on since we are experiencing a mini drought.

Wishing for rain

I'm wishing these were rain drops on the beauty, but it's water from the sprinkler.

Fall Beauty

This yellow mesa flower is a beauty that blooms summer thru the fall.

Still blooming...

There is not alot blooming right now but my roses are still beautiful. I snapped this picture of this this yellow beauty.

Hummingbirds

It seems the hummingbirds have gone crazy in our backyard. We put out 2 more feeders for a total of three and they are loving it. I was actually able to capture a few shots today which is amazing becuase they move so swiftly.

More purple in my gardens

I don't know how I managed this, but I have more purple blooming in my gardens! This is a flowering tree that my dad and I dug up years ago at his house. It's really nice and blooms during the hot months when not many things are in bloom.

Pure White

This white rosebud was really nice and purse amoung all of the bright pinks and reds in the same bed. They are still blooming!

Orange you beautiful!

This year I realize the majority of perrienals in my gardens were purple. It's very exciting to see this beautiful orange canna blooming!

Peaceful and calming

This beautiful white phlox is peaceful and calming which is what I need right now. The last six months have been a bit much and has taken a toll on my health. I look forward to cooler days so I can get back to my therapy gardens.

The Heat Is On

August Bloomers are hard to find but these Black Eyed Susan's are looking pretty good for the 97 degree weather we're having.

Welcome Home

I've been away from home for a week and came back to my recently planted yellow Lantana in full bloom.

Up Up and Away

It's rare to actually catch the Balloon flowers ballooning (is that a word?), but I go this one. The flowers are actually much prettier when they open up but the balloon is kinda neat. I have a white one and a purple one.

For my dear friend

I have a friend who shares my passon for hydrangeas, so this one is for you. My hydrangeas have not bloomed in two years but this year they continue to delight me. I think it was worth this wait. Enjoy!

Sharing

The house next to my mom was empty for about two years so I plucked a few roots of this beautiful purple phlox from the yard. There are folks living their now so we both have them! I am sure they would have shared with me.

Kinda scary

I'm not sure if they named these Tiger Lilies for the color and the spots or becuase they look a little scary. My dad gave me these bulbs years ago. My garden would be pretty sparce without all of his transpants.

I bartered for this one

I helped a friend about 8 years ago who had a family member lose their landscaping business. She was trying to save the plants so I helped her move tons of them to her house. She gave me lots of plants including this beautiful variegated crape myrtle.

Hey Lady

This little lady bug looks real nice hanging out on the yellow bell branch. My daughter got this great shot!

Entertainment

We thought about putting 'stuff' out to keep the squirrels away but decided they were too entertaining. This guy is working real hard for a bit of seed.

After the rain

I spotted this dark orange day lily after the rain. This is one of the old fashion kind I got from my dad's garden. He was a gifted gardener.

Rainbow of colors

Lantana is an awesome little flower. I love the variegated ones. I just planted this one about a week ago and loved it so much I went back and got another one.

Yellow Tiger Lily

Actually the real name is Connecticut King Asiatic lily, but I've always referred to them as tiger lilies. I have yellow and orange.

Calla Lillies

To me, calla lilies are a very unique flower. They are absolutely gorgeogous and I wish I have lots of them. Today I found this one blooming.

A garden gift from above

My first gardenia's bloomed this week. The frangrance is so sweet it is a garden gift from above. I picked a bloom for my mom who is recovering from surgery at my house and this evening she told me that was her little garden since she has not gone outside much lately.

Blue Beauty

I shared my garden today with a beautiful butterfly. I believe it is aRed-spotted Purple butterfly.

Barren Strawberry

This perennial gets its name due to it's likeness of the strawberry plant. It's bright yellow flowers brighten out any flower bed.

Hot Pink

This is a hardy plant, but i don't know the name! I love the hot pink.

Foxglove

I purchased one of these plants last year and split it into two. Pleasantly, both came back and bloomed this year.

Milk and Wine Lily

My dad gave me a cutting of this Milk and Wine Lily years ago. It's really unique with the white and burgundy blooms.

A rose in memory of fallen soldiers

This rose was blooming today. I thought it was fitting in memory of the fallen soldiers that fought for my freedom. Thank you.

Pink Hydrangea

Today I found one pink Hydrangea in my garden. All my others are blue so this was a nice treat.

Rose for a special occasion

This beautiful yellow rose from my garden is posted today for my daughter who graduated from high school last night. I love you baby girl.

Blue Cone Flowers

My cone flowers are just starting to bloom. Several years ago I planted one of them and now I have over thirty plants. They range from blue to purple; however, last year I had one white plant.

Too much fun

Dogwoods

The dogwoods were beautiful this year. We have lots of them in our yard. We went into the woods behind our house when we moved here 16 years ago and transferred many of them into our yard. They are a joy each spring.
