Overlooked

The bloom on the Hosta is often overlooked but it is really quite beautiful. This hosta blooms white instead of the lavendar that many bloom.

Appreciation and Gratitude

The symbolism behind the meaning of the dark pink rose is appreciation and gratitude. I thought it was fitting to post my dark pink rose today. Thanks to all of those who serve and have served our country. Happy Memorial Day!

Dwarf daylily

I have a few dwarf daylilies. The bloom sites oly about six inches off the ground compared to the average daylily with the long stem. Mine don't seem to bloom every year so it was nice to get a photo of one yesterday.

Fall in the Spring!

I planted these mums last Fall and didn't
expect them to come back until later in the
year.  I'm looking forward to see if they
bloom all Summer into the Fall.

Carnations in my Garden!

This beautiful pink carnation is another great find from my sweet mother-in-laws's garden. I found  a small thin leaf in her flower bed early spring as we were cleaning up her house for the estate sale. I was pretty sure it was a perrennial and dug it up. I was delighted to see this pretty pink carnation bloom this week. Another fond memory of Lucile.

Pretty in Pink

I can never remember the type of plant I purchase. I just recently bought the one.
I'll just call it Pretty in Pink!

Not my garden, but my garage

Earlier this year my hubby broke one of the glass windows in the garage door while repairing the mechanics of the door. It seems instead of nesting in my gardens, this little family is flying in and out the broken window in the garage door.  Well, now we can't fix the broken glass until these little guys hatch.

See the Textures

The photo of this Begonia is prettier than the plant itself. It's really cool how you can really see the textures of the flower in the photo.  Of course, my daughter took the photo... not me!Photo credit: Kayla Marston

Nice Shot

My daughter's photographic talent blows me away. She snapped this really nice shot of one on my pink daisies.

A new visitor to my gardens

A rose-breasted grosbeak is visiting my gardens. We have seen it on three different days in the past week.  They breed from Novia Scotia to the mountains of Georgia. Apparently it spends the winters in the tropics.

Who was more surprised?

This is not a very clear photo, but it is an AWESOME one. I was standing in front of one of our newest bluebird houses to take a photo of a flower and this little guy popped up and looked at me.  I don't know who was more surprised, him or me!  It made my day.
