Always find the beauty!
Many garderners are sad when summer comes to an end since most flowers are at their peak in the Spring and Summer. As you can see from this photo of a dogwood branch taken a few days ago, the soft spring blooms and summer leaves turn beautiful in the Fall. We should always try to find the beauty in everything!

Cornerstone Mums in my Garden
Seventeen years ago we moved into this home. Shortly after our move in we visited Cornerstone United Methodist Church. That afternoon, the pastor brought me a cutting from his own garden of this flower which I also planted that day. I call them my Cornerstone Mums. They have bloomed every fall since then.

Meet Cooper - My New Garden Buddy
Cooper is my new special puppy. He was born deaf; however he is
very visual and really loves outdoors. I think he is going to be a great garden buddy!

Four O'Clocks
This Four O'Clock is another charm we got from my mother-in-laws yard. We had these in my yard when I was a kid. It was late in the day when I took this shot so the bloom is closing up.

Not a weed!!!
Proof that I'm not a professional gardner, I've been pulling this up each year thinking it was a weed! Apparently, it is a perrennial of some sort becuase it bloomed. It must be something I planted years ago. Now I have to do some research to find out what type of flower it is.

A good find
I purchased this mum last August is three different colors. They bloom up until the last front. The came back in May and have bloomed all summer. I'm going back to this shop to see if they have them for sale this year!

Looking for food
I believe she jumps the fence looking for food in my gardens.
I spray my hostas all spring thru about the beginning of August each year
with deer repellent.
After that, I just give in and let the deer have them.

One of my azaleas from a few months back. Seems like Spring just past but it's almost Fall already!

Mellow Yellow
There's nothing mellow about this yellow zinnia.
It's managed to stay beautiful even in the dry summer we are having.

Something new!
I purchased this new perrennial at a local garden shop that is closing down.
I was afraid planting it so late in our current drought would
not be good, but it's still looking nice.

What's within
The Canna lily bloom before it flowers is
fabulous as seem in the one in my garden.
If we all focused more on what's within us
than just beauty we would be much better off!

The birds planted a sunflower in my garden!
I've never planted sunflowers; however, I use sunflower seeds in my bird feeders.
So the only explanation I have for this sunflower in my garden is... the birds planted it!

Thanks God for our Freedom
This is the closest I could come to red, white and blue in my garden.
Thank God for our freedom. Happy 4th!

Strike a Pose
I was sitting near the feeders yesterday to cool down
after gardening and this red bird stopped by and posed for me!

Bloom anyway!
The extreme heat and lack of rain is really impacting my gardens early this year;
however, the day lilies manage to bloom anyway.

Milk and Wine Lily
I'm surprised each day when I go outside to find something blooming since
we are in such a dry spell. This milk and wine lily is really beautiful.

La La La La La
Our garage babies are singing now. They had a rough weekend when they somehow got shuffled out of their nest (darn neighborhood cat!!). We gently put them back in their nest and they are doing great. We are now keeping the garage shut and have a fan running for the babies.

A Memory from the Past
This Day Lily came from my Dad's garden. I remember this
variety all over our yard when I was a child.

All Good Moms Take Care of their Babies!
On May 18th, I posted a picture of a nest full of eggs we found in our garage. I believe they are now hatched. She flys in and out of the broken window to bring food. We are leaving our garage door open more than normal because it is really hot.
All Good Moms Take Care of their Babies! I carefully zoomed in and got this shot of her tonight and she protected her next. Hopefully soon we will be able to get a shot of her babies.
Mandevilla
Mandevilla is a vine flower that is really pretty and blooms all the way til frost in Georgia.
I've never had one make it thru the winter. Maybe I'll bring this one in the winter and try
to keep it going inside til next spring.

Overlooked
The bloom on the Hosta is often overlooked but it is really quite beautiful. This hosta blooms white instead of the lavendar that many bloom.
